If you are a migrant or registered asylum seeker residing in Belize, you would only need to satisfy a minimum of one criterion below:

Registered as an asylum seeker with the Department of Refugees (must have been registered before 31st March 2020).

Specific Requirements listed below; Along with general requirements;

  • A Official letter from the Department of Refugees signed and sealed by the Director of Refugees indicating the file registration number and personal particulars of applicant (and family).

Residing in Belize before 31st December 2016.

Specific Requirements; any two listed below; Along with general requirements

  • A Complete copy of passport used to enter Belize that shows date of arrival.
  • B Complete copy of any travel document used to enter Belize.
  • C Any temporary document obtained during this period.
  • D Any form of legal tender document obtained since residing in Belize (land certificate/lease, trade licenses, company registration certificate)

Have at least one (1) child born in Belize on or before 31st December 2021.

Specific Requirements; the below listed, along with general requirements

  • A Child(ren) original Belize Birth Certificate issued by the Belize Vital Statistical Unit which must include the name of the parent.
  • B Proof of residing in Belize (i.e. travel documents, temporary travel permits, legal tenders, etc. obtained while in Belize).

Completed primary, secondary and or tertiary education in Belize.

Specific Requirements (a) and any other below listed, along with general requirements

  • A Proof of continuous residence in Belize (i.e., travel documents, temporary travel permits, legal tenders, etc. obtained while in Belize).
  • B Primary School Certificate.
  • C High School Diploma.
  • D Certified letter from educational institution along with report cards.
  • E Certified school transcript from educational institution.

Married to a citizen of Belize for at least one (1) year.

Specific Requirements a b and d or a c and d, along with general requirements

  • A Married Certificate issued by the Vital Statistics Unit.
  • B Spouse’s Belize Birth Certificate issued by the Vital Statistics Unit.
  • C Spouse’s Belize Nationality Certificate if applicant was not born in Belize.
  • D Spouse Photo Identification (Belize Social Security Card, Belize Voters Registration Card, Belize Passport).
  • E Death Certificate if spouse is deceased (issued by the Vital Statistics Unit).

In common-law union with a citizen of Belize for at least five (5) years.

Specific Requirements; a, b, c and e or a, b, d, and e Along with general requirements

  • A Statutory Declaration along with a photo identification and proof of relations from either parent or sibling of the Belizean Spouse attesting knowledge of union.
  • B Statutory declaration by both parties of the union attesting that neither have been previously married.
  • C Belizean spouse birth certificate issued by the Vital Statistics Unit and photo I.D.
  • D Belizean Spouse’s Belize Nationality Certificate along with either of the following (Belize Passport or Belize Social Security Card or Belize Voters identification Card).
  • E Any record of joint business ventures (business registration certificate, trade license certificate, real estate documents).

Referrals by the Department of Human Services (minors/adolescents and victims of human trafficking).

Specific Requirements listed below, along with general requirements

  • A Official letter of referral, sealed and signed by the Chief Executive Officer or the Director of Human Services.

Maintained gainful employment in Belize for five (5) years.

Specific Requirements: a and c or b, c, d and e, along with general requirements

  • A Temporary Employment Permits
  • B Salary slips
  • C Social Security Contribution History
  • D Statutory Declaration from self and employer(s)
  • E Photo identification of employer(s)

General Requirements

All applicants are required to submit:

  • 1Completed Permanent Residence application form (Amnesty). One application form is required if applying as a family. Include dependent’s information where applicable.
  • 2Belize Police Record for applicant and children (12) twelve years and over.
  • 3Personal Identity document; Passport, Birth Certificate, Cedula, Documento Único de Identidad (DUI). (translations required).
  • 4Medical Certificate.
  • 5HIV, VDRL and TB Laboratory tests for adults and children 12 years and above.
  • 6Two passport size photographs for all applicants.
  • 7If dependents are included, complete dependent section on the Amnesty Form and submit letters of financial support for each dependent.

Upon approval, adults will pay BZD 500.00 and minors BZD 250.00 for their Permanent Residence Card
