UNITE (United Garment and Textile Workers) and Here! (The Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union) joined together on July 8, 2004 to form UNIT HERE. The union has more than 450,000 active members and more than 400,000 retirees in North America. Unite Here is a multi-ethnic union: a high percentage of its members are immigrants, African-Americans, Latino, and Asian-American workers, among others. The majority of members are women. Our top priority is to organize non-union employees in the textile, hotel, and restaurant industries.
