The Migration Information Portal is a platform that offers centralized information on migration requirements and ways to migrate to another country for various reasons. It also offers additional information on organizations linked to the migration process and to migrant assistance, information for employers of migrants, as well as other informative resources on migration.
The platform contains summarized information on procedures and requirements for work permits and visa applications from different countries, using official sources, so that the interested person can approach the relevant institution for more information and carry out the procedure of interest. The Portal is not a means by which the above-mentioned procedures can be carried out.
This initiative of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) aims to facilitate access to information on administrative requirements for migrants, employers, and public officials, specially from Member States of the Regional Conference on Migration, in order to facilitate a safe, orderly and regular migration.
IOM is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society. IOM is a partner organization within the United Nations System and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners to provide services and advice to governments and migrants.
Currently, it has 173 Member States, 8 States holding observer status and offices in over 100 countries.
This Portal is part of IOM's efforts in Central America through the Western Hemisphere Program for capacity building in migration governance, thanks to funding from the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration of the United States Department of State.
