It is an agency of the Public Prosecutor's Office dedicated to criminal investigation and among the crimes it investigates is the crime of trafficking in persons in all its forms.

Within its organizational structure for the fulfillment of its mission, the ATIC will have jurisdiction throughout the national territory, with its headquarters in the Capital of the Republic and a regional office in San Pedro Sula Cortes, also are divided into Departments, Groups and Units these with the assignment of Criminal Investigation Agents.
