Procedure Process

Vaccination and health: not required.

Visa: Required

Most travelers need a visitor's visa to travel to Canada. You may also need one if you are passing through a Canadian airport on your way to your final destination.

A visitor's visa (also called a temporary resident visa) is an official document that is affixed to your passport. It proves that you meet the necessary requirements to enter Canada.

Cost: $100.

You can stay up to six (6) months in Canada. The final amount of time will depend on the immigration officer. He/she will have to write the amount of time in your passport or give you a document called a visitor's record where you will see the final departure date.

The first thing you should know is that the process to apply for the visa must be done online. However, you can apply on paper if you are unable to apply online due to a disability or are traveling with an identity or travel document issued to a refugee, stateless person or non-citizen.

Visa application requirements:

1) Have a valid travel document, such as a passport.

2) Be in good health

3) Not have a criminal record or any immigration-related case.

4) Convince an immigration officer that you have ties - such as a job, home, financial assets or family - that will take you back to your home country.

5) Convincing the immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay.

6) Having enough money for your stay.

7) The amount of money you will need will depend on the length of your stay and whether you will be staying in a hotel or with friends or family.

8) You may need a medical examination and a letter of invitation from someone living in Canada.

9) Check the list of documents you need depending on your situation.

Some people are inadmissible to Canada, which means they are not allowed to enter the country. You may be inadmissible for several reasons, including being involved in:

10) Criminal activity; Human rights violations; Organized crime; for security, health or financial reasons. Learn more about inadmissibility.

11) Take into account if you are traveling with minor children.

Immigration requirements to apply for a visa:

1) Travel History. Include copies of your visa or passport.

2) Detailed itinerary. Have a copy of travel, tickets, etc.

3) Detailed bank statement of the last six months, this to know if you have enough money to make the trip.

4) Identity document: passport. Have a color copy of your passport. NOT admissible: any passport issued by Somalia; non-machine-readable passports issued by the Czech Republic; temporary passports issued by the Republic of South Africa and temporary passports issued by Venezuela.
