Procedure Process

Vaccination and health: no mandatory vaccinations are required.

Requires "visitor's visa without permission to perform remunerated activities". May stay in Mexico for up to 180 days, as long as the activity does not involve any remuneration.

Exceptions: If you possess any of these documents you will not need a visa:

  • (a) Document proving permanent residence in Canada, the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, any of the countries that make up the Schengen Area, as well as in the member countries of the Pacific Alliance (Chile, Colombia and Peru).
  • b) Valid and valid Visa from Canada, the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or any of the countries that make up the Schengen Area.
  • c) APEC Business Traveler Card (ABTC) approved by Mexico.
  • d) Certificate that accredits him/her as a member of the crew of the aircraft in which he/she is arriving.
  • e) Seaman's book, if he/she is a member of the crew of the vessel arriving to a Mexican port on an international voyage. If the crew member arrives by air to enlist in a vessel operating in a national port, he/she must present in addition to the sea book, a document that accredits his/her enlistment, the data of the vessel and the Mexican port in which it is located.

Requirements to present:

  1. Visa application form (preferably filled out digitally, here).
  2. Valid and valid passport (foreigners must also present a copy of the residence card) valid for at least 6 months from the date of travel to Mexico.
  3. Photocopy of the passport page where personal information appears.
  4. Recent color photograph with white background, visible face and without glasses, passport size.
  5. Proof of employment in original with signature and seal, indicating full name, monthly salary, seniority and position.
  6. Proof of salary and/or wage payments, greater than the equivalent of one hundred days of the general minimum wage in force in Mexico City, during the last six months.
  7. Proof of itemized bank statements for the last six months.
  8. Proof of savings, investment and/or cooperative bank account with average balance for the last six months.
  9. Proof of the movements of the bank account.
  10. If applicable, title deed of real or personal property, submit original and copy of the public deed.
  11. International credit and/or debit cards in original and copy (only if owned).

Documents to be submitted 

  1. The labor record must be at least one year old as an individual, two years as a legal entity (institution, commercial company, company, business, etc.).
  2. If the applicant is a merchant or entrepreneur, he/she must submit his/her original and copy of his/her individual merchant registration deed, balance sheet of his/her business, valid operating permit and copy of RTN.
  3. Air ticket quotations and hotel quotations in copy (in case the applicant is a businessman or entrepreneur). 
  4. Routes and dates of travel: round trip ticket.

In case of economic dependents, students and minors, in addition to proving the above, they must accompany their file with the following documents:

  • a. The economic solvency of the minor must be covered by the parents, for which they must present what is expressed in items 5, 6, 7, 8, 8, 9, 10 and 11 of the above list.
  • b. They must present themselves at the consular interview accompanied by both parents (duly identified); an original birth certificate and proof of studies.
  • c. Minors whose parental authority only corresponds to one of the parents by judicial resolution, must present an original and certified copy of the official document of said resolution; an original certification of birth certificate and proof of studies;
  • d. In case one or both parents of the minor reside abroad, they must present notarized permission of the parent or parents issued by the Honduran Embassy in the country of residence.


It is important to keep in mind that having a Visa does not guarantee entry into Mexico, but it does allow you to be or present yourself at an international transit point (airport, land border or seaport) and request entry into the country. Entry into Mexico is authorized by the immigration authority, which is the National Immigration Institute (INM).

Regional visitor's card: Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador and Honduras.

It is a free procedure. This card will allow you to visit Chiapas, Campeche, Quintana Roo, Tabasco and Yucatan with a maximum stay of up to 7 days in each entry. To apply for this card click here.

Documents to present for Visitor's Card:

  1. Passport or original identity document that accredits them as permanent residents.
  2. Valid and valid travel ticket with return date.
  3. In the case of children, only present birth certificate.
