According to the Law Against Trafficking in Persons:
"Without prejudice to the rights established in this Law, foreign victims will opt, according to their criteria and interest, to the humanitarian visa at no cost and may make use of it for work and residence purposes, as well as apply for refugee status as provided in Law No. 655, Law on Refugee Protection or Law No. 761, General Law on Migration and Aliens, published in La Gaceta, Official Gazette No. 125 and 126 of July 6 and 7, 2010. The immigration authority will grant visas for humanitarian reasons to foreign victims of the crime of trafficking in persons, as well as persons who live with the victim in the country, during the investigation and criminal proceedings. In the cases that merit it, these visas will include permits to reside and work".
