Conditions for applying:
- Suffering from an illness or disability that requires medical attention and prevents their return to their country of origin or residence
- Suffering from a permanent disability
- To be older than 85 years of age and unable to be left in a state of abandonment.
- To be in conditions of notorious poverty (extreme poverty) and have been residing in Panama for more than five (5) years
- To be a minor who suffers some degree of disability and lacks identity documents or is in a situation of abandonment
Documentation needed and steps to follow:
- The application should specify why the foreigner is leaving his/her country and his/her reason to be considered and opt for this permit.
- Identification documents (Except for minors who do not have identification documents).
- Documentation verifying place of residence.
- Copy of passport.
- Medical Certificate.
Conditions: In case the applicant, by virtue of the activities he/she carries out, obtains income from a Panamanian source, he/she must previously request an authorization from the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development.
Validity: The foreigner will be able to extend his Residence Visa for Humanitarian Reasons while the disciplinary team verifies his application.
Once the condition is verified, the disciplinary team will issue a technical report and send it to the Director General who will issue his opinion. If approved, the applicant may extend his/her Temporary Resident Visa for Humanitarian Reasons, which may not exceed six (6) years, or authorize voluntary return to his/her country of origin or place of residence.
