Foreign people in Canada need a work permit.
There are two types of work permits:
1) Open: allows you to work for any employer in Canada.
2) Employer-specific work permit: allows you to work according to your work permit conditions.

2) Business people can enter and work in Canada if they qualify under one of the following agreements:
- International Mobility Program (NAFTA): International Free Trade.
- Other Free Trade Agreements (FTAs)
- General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS):
- Business visitors: Foreign nationals entering Canada to engage in international business activities without being part of the Canadian labour market.
- To work in Canada as a professional, the foreigner needs to be qualified to work in one of the jobs set out in the International Mobility Program: International Free Trade Agreements: Intra-Company Transfer: This is a person who is sent to work for the same company in another country.
- Traders and Investors: For this category you need to be involved in planning, as a supervisor or executive, or in a role involving essential skills, a large amount of trade in goods or services, primarily between Canada and your home country, or a large investment in Canada by the foreigner or their company, comply with any other NAFTA rules and have a work permit.

The information on the different categories of business people visit you can find it here on the official website of the Canadian government. There you must select your country of origin and it will indicate which agreement or treaty applies in your case.
- If you are a Venezuelan national, when applying for employment on the platform, you must add five (5) years to the expiration date printed in your passport and enter it in the expiration date field of the application form.
- Attach an explanatory letter to your application stating: "I am a Venezuelan citizen with a Venezuelan passport extended for 5 years".
Requirements
There are specific requirements you must meet depending on where you are located when you apply for your work permit. But regardless of where you apply or the type of work permit you apply:
- Register on the Government of Canada website here http://bit.ly/expressentryca . There you will receive all notices of your application through that account. You may be asked for biometric data.
- Demonstrate to an official that you will be leaving Canada when your work permit expires.
- Demonstrate that you have enough money to take care of yourself and your family members during your stay in Canada and to return to your home country.
- Be law-abiding and have no criminal record (we may ask you to provide a criminal record certificate).
- Not be a danger to the security of Canada.
- Be in good health and undergo a medical examination, if necessary.
- Not plan to work for an employer who is listed as "ineligible" on the list of employers who have failed to meet the conditions.
- Not plan to work for an employer who regularly offers striptease, lap dancing, escort services or erotic massages.
- Provide the officer with any other documents requested to prove that you can enter the country.
- In some cases have a job offer by means of an employment contract. This in case you are out of the country. I can apply to the employment exchange depending on your job.
- In some jobs you may be required to have at least 70% of English or French. In some cases, you will have to prove this through an official exam.
- Depending on the job you may be required to obtain a Labor Market Assessment Certificate (LMIA): In some cases, a Canadian employer must obtain a Labour Market Assessment Certificate (LMIA) before hiring a foreign worker. The LMIA confirms that there are no Canadian workers available to do the job and that the employer has met all the requirements for hiring a foreign worker and must give a copy to you. You should only give it to them when they ask for it.
- You can only apply for a work permit from Canada if you have a valid study or work permit your spouse, common-law partner or parents have a valid study or work permit; you are eligible for a post-graduate work permit and your study permit is still valid; you have a temporary residence permit valid for six months or more; you are awaiting a decision on an application for permanent residence from within Canada; you have filed an application for refugee protection and the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada has recognized you as a refugee or protected person under the Convention; you are allowed to work in Canada without a work permit, but you need a work permit to work in other employment (this does not apply to business visitors); or you are a trader, investor, intra-corporate transferee or professional under the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).
- Faster processing: If your job is classified in Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities (TEER) category 0 or 1 of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system, you are eligible for a 2-week application processing.
